It started out with a day here and there where I just didn’t feel right. I was having trouble concentrating, and I was tired all the time.
That may not sound unusual for a busy mom. We’re always putting our families and responsibilities first. There’s never a shortage of things to do.
But the fatigue I was feeling was out of the ordinary. I felt like I needed a nap every afternoon. My appetite kept changing, too. Some days I was so hungry and had these intense cravings. And other days I didn’t feel like eating at all.
And then those occasional days where I didn’t feel right, turned into something more regular.
I felt spacey, like I was living in a fog. I was retaining water. And it seemed like I was always catching a cold.
Well-meaning friends said that I was probably just tired, and that it was all part of being a parent. They joked that I should have an extra cup of coffee in the afternoon.
But it felt like it was more than your average fatigue…
I searched online to find some advice. The suggestions I found ranged from doing more exercise, getting more sleep, taking a multivitamin to meditation. And I tried them all.
I started getting up earlier to fit in a 30 minute walk every day. I went to bed a little earlier instead of watching TV. I downloaded an app to learn how to meditate. I even started following blogs and podcasts about health and fitness.
And although I saw some improvements, such as my legs getting stronger from walking…
I was still exhausted… and it was starting to affect my moods. The day before I snapped at my kids for something minor. I felt so guilty.
So I went back to my search. This time I found something I hadn’t seen before…

Love the book and the ideas. The size is good and bad. I LOVE that it's bigger than most other journals and I have more room for my thoughts and the content however because it's a bit larger than most, it doesn't fit in ALL of my bags, purses, and totes. it's a good problem to have lol
This was a great into into mental health and self-awareness journaling. Perfect for someone beginning their journey but unsure of where to start. It does a good job walking through basic self-love and emotion regulation concepts, while helping you build out a plan for your own improvement.
I've really enjoyed my time with this journal so far. I've always struggled with self-esteem and being overly critical, but this journal has been great at shifting my perspective. Self-compassion and common humanity have become great tools for me to be a little kinder to myself. I can't wait to continue integrating these concepts into my life with the help of this journal.

I haven’t worked through this whole journal but what I have completed (about half) has been very eye opening and helpful on my journey to self-love and and self-care.
