Is The Self-Love Journal Worth It? I Tried it, and Here's My Honest Review

Summary: Can the Self-Love Journal be the key to unlocking a more fulfilling life? Countless glowing reviews say it can... and I put it to the test.

The Self-Love Journal is taking the self-care world by storm, with everyone from influencers to mental health experts raving about its benefits.

Celebrities like Emma Watson, Chrissy Teigen, and Selena Gomez swear by therapy and journaling for their mental health, but journaling with the guidance of a therapist by your side can cost thousands of dollars per month.

The Self-Love Journal is a new solution that uses the same science backed strategies as you’ll find at a therapist's office.

According to literally thousands of reviews, the people who use The Self-Love Journal rave about its seemingly magical ability to transform their lives by rewiring their brain for self-love… and all just by using it for 10 minutes daily.

Those are some big claims to make, but at the age of 47, I’m happy to give anything a try – especially when it comes with a money back guarantee. I did try The Self-Love Journal for one month, and I will share with you my brutally honest review about it, and I think some parts might surprise you.

Before I get into my review, let me explain exactly what the Self-Love Journal is.

What is The Self-Love Journal?

The Self-Love Journal is a 91-day guided journaling experience that claims to help you find unconditional self-love, overcome negative self-talk and insecurities, and equip you with the strategies to live a more fulfilling, joyful life.

It’s developed by mental health experts, from psychologists to clinical counselors, and has been supported by a research study conducted at The University of British Columbia.

The Self-Love Journal includes optional 15-minute follow-along videos for each of the 91 days, I did the math and that’s over 22 hours of guidance from a licensed clinical therapist over 3 months. 🤯

How does it work?

The Self-Love Journal uses a combination of strategies found in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy to promote positive self-talk and put an end to self-doubt.

The journal references the work of over 40 experts in the field of Psychology and behavioral therapy.

And a study of the journal conducted at The University Of British Columbia found that after only 21 days, users experienced:

  • Their common humanity went up by 62%
  • Mindfulness increased by 42%
  • Self-acceptance rose by 38%
  • Their self-kindness increased by 49%

Let me tell you - you can literally feel the effort and care that went into making this journal, they did not cut corners or use cheap paper either. Almost immediately I noticed a big difference over other journals or workbooks.

It’s entirely up to you how often you decide to journal for, but to see the biggest difference you’ll want to build a consistent habit. I used The Self-Love Journal for 10 minutes per day.

According to the users, you start seeing results within the first week, and of course, after learning all of this, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one!

I tried The Self-Love Journal for 3 weeks, and this is my brutally honest review (some of it might surprise you!)

I have been struggling with low self-esteem and anxiety since I was a teen. I am horrible at making decisions. And to be honest, I never really try anything new because of it..

When I started using The Self-Love Journal, it was perfect timing. I had just taken on a new job with more responsibility, and I knew that if I wanted to succeed, I needed to work on getting rid of my self-doubt.

I was determined to make a change and the Self-Love Journal seemed like the perfect tool.

I had tried yoga, meditation, and even read books on psychology before, but nothing seemed to stick. I needed a way to reprogram my brain and put an end to those negative thoughts that were controlling my life without me even realizing it. The Self-Love Journal promised to guide me through the process and help me find true self-acceptance, and I was ready to give it a try.

I did what others do and journaled for 10 minutes per day. This is what happened.

Package Arrives

The Self-Love Journal arrived early within 5 days (yay!). The packaging was really great! It came in a beautiful custom white box with a bookmark. They had a BOGO deal at the time so I also got one of their other journals for free. I was surprised that they both came individually boxed, based on the packaging alone they would make for great gifts!

Immediately after I took the journal out of the box I was impressed with how the paper felt and the quality of the design. I especially like the ring binding so that the journal can lay flat while I’m writing. After ordering online I half expected to receive cheaply made products, but this was designed by experts and it shows.

Day 1

My first day using The Self-Love Journal was all about self-kindness and setting intentions. I've set intentions before, but I decided to put on the guided video to see what that was like. And oh my gosh… the journal alone is different from anything I’ve seen, but paired with the video it was a completely new experience.

The therapist (Bethany M.) had an incredibly calm presence and it was like a guided meditation. In the past, journaling felt like an isolated experience, but this really felt like I had somebody holding my hand through the process.

Day 7

After a whole week of self-kindness and self-love, I have to say, I'm loving it. I felt like I was making progress, for example, last week I felt confused about my insecurities, I wasn’t really sure how to feel about them, I wanted to learn how to love them and embrace every little thing about myself.

But after the first week, I felt… more indifferent, I suppose? I guess I was starting to realize that my insecurities and “imperfections” don’t define me. Everyone has them.

Everyone has similar feelings and insecurities, so mine aren’t dealbreakers. They don’t make me a failure or unworthy of love.

Of course, there were still tough moments. For instance, one morning I looked in the mirror and noticed my smile lines, and my initial reaction was disappointment. But I was able to catch myself before spiraling and reminded myself that it was part of who I am and that it didn't affect my worth.

Before, those thoughts would come and go without me even noticing. It was empowering to feel like I had more control over my thoughts and feelings.

Day 14

After two weeks of using The Self-Love Journal, something really powerful happened while I was writing in it. I had this moment of clarity that made me feel loved and content with who I am in a really deep way.

It's like all the journaling I'd been doing to try to understand and stop my negative self-talk was actually working. And the coolest part? I didn't just know it intellectually – I felt it in my gut.

For the first time in my life, I caught a glimpse of what it truly means to feel unconditionally worthy of love.

It was like this overwhelming sense of peace and acceptance washed over me. And I gotta be honest – I cried. I cried because I had never felt that kind of love for myself before.

There were no strings attached, no conditions, no doubts – just pure love and acceptance. And in that moment, I knew that I deserved it, just like everyone else does.

It's hard to explain, but that moment was a turning point for me.

Day 21

I have to tell you, The Self-Love Journal has been a complete game-changer for me. I honestly wish I had found it sooner, but I'm just grateful that I decided to start this journey when I did.

The guided videos are fantastic, and I love how they enhance the journaling experience. But sometimes, I just prefer to sit with a cup of tea and journal in the morning by myself. It's become such a comforting and peaceful ritual for me, and it's really helped me to feel more comfortable with my thoughts when alone.

The biggest change I've noticed is how I'm finally starting to understand myself better. I used to be so hard on myself, always striving for perfection and feeling like I wasn't enough. But now, I'm learning to embrace my imperfections and to be kinder to myself. It's amazing how just a few weeks of consistent journaling can completely shift your mindset.

And it's not just how I see myself – it's how I see others, too. I used to judge people harshly for their mistakes or shortcomings (a bad habit I now know I inherited from my mother), but now I'm starting to see that we're all just human.

We all make mistakes and have our own struggles, and that's okay. It's made me more compassionate and understanding, and it's been really rewarding to see how that's changed my interactions with others.

I'm also noticing a big difference in how I handle stress and uncertainty. I used to feel like I was constantly running around like a chicken with its head cut off, but now I'm finding more clarity and calm. It's not always easy, but I'm learning to trust myself and to take things one step at a time.

Overall, I can't recommend The Self-Love Journal enough. It's been such a powerful tool for me, and I'm excited to see where it takes me next.

Is The Self-Love Journal legit?

I confess - I didn’t stop using The Self-Love Journal after my 3 week experiment - but who would!

It’s true that getting into a new habit or routine of journaling is hard at first. Big changes in the way your mind works can’t happen overnight. If anyone says The Self-Love Journal is a waste of money, I’d say they just weren’t willing to do the hard self-reflection needed to see a change.

My negative self-talk has diminished to practically nothing, and my future feels so much brighter and full of opportunity. Even my friends have complimented my new confidence before I told them I was using the journal (but of course they’re all using it now, too).

On top of all that, The Self-Love Journal is super affordable, especially compared to expensive workshops, video courses, and one on one sessions.

How much does The Self-Love Journal cost?

It's amazing how much a little self-reflection can change your life, but the cost of therapy or other self-improvement tools can be a major barrier for many people. A typical therapy session can cost hundreds of dollars, and a video workshop can cost $400 or more. That's why I'm so impressed with The Self-Love Journal - for less than $50, you get 91 days of guided journaling and over 20 hours of video guidance using the same proven strategies, at a fraction of the cost. It's an accessible and affordable option for anyone who wants to deepen their self-love practice without breaking the bank.

Where can you get the Self-Love Journal?

When buying anything online it’s good to do your due diligence first. There are many knockoff versions and copycats available on Amazon and other websites, but these journals may not be backed by scientific research and may not provide the same benefits as the authentic product.

We strongly recommend purchasing The Self-Love Journal directly from the official website to ensure that you receive a high-quality product that has been University tested and proven to help users develop self-love and end negative self-talk.

By purchasing from the official website, you can also take advantage of their money-back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the journal. Don't risk your self-love journey with an imitation product - invest in the real thing and experience the transformative power of The Self-Love Journal for yourself.
