It started out with a day here and there where I just didn’t feel right. I was having trouble concentrating, and I was tired all the time.
That may not sound unusual for a busy mom. We’re always putting our families and responsibilities first. There’s never a shortage of things to do.
But the fatigue I was feeling was out of the ordinary. I felt like I needed a nap every afternoon. My appetite kept changing, too. Some days I was so hungry and had these intense cravings. And other days I didn’t feel like eating at all.
And then those occasional days where I didn’t feel right, turned into something more regular.
The symptoms got worse too… I felt spacey, like I was living in a fog. I was retaining water. And it seemed like I was always catching a cold.
Well-meaning friends said that I was probably just tired, and that it was all part of being a parent. They joked that I should have an extra cup of coffee in the afternoon.

I was still exhausted… and it was starting to affect my moods. The day before I snapped at my kids for something minor. I felt so guilty.
